Walking for Water: A Collective Impact by WeWard
Ougrouji, Nigeria – 2025
The French-founded, now U.S.-based company WeWard, known for its mobile application that
encourages people to walk and adopt healthier lifestyles, chose to transform daily steps into
humanitarian impact.
Through its platform, WeWard invited its community of users to participate in a collective
fundraising campaign. The initiative mobilized thousands of participants and generated funds to
finance a clean water access project in Nigeria.
As a result of this campaign, a borehole and water access infrastructure were established in the
village of Ougrouji, providing sustainable access to clean drinking water for approximately 1,789
people.
Beyond this initial water initiative, WeWard extended its commitment in Nigeria by supporting
programs dedicated to people with disabilities. In total, the company allocated more than €27,000 to
support clean water access and assistance for disabled beneficiaries.
Additionally, WeWard contributed nearly €67,000 toward educational programs in
Nigeria—initiatives detailed in separate sections of this site.
This project demonstrates how digital innovation, collective participation, and corporate
responsibility can converge to create meaningful and measurable humanitarian impact.
