Befor /After ChabadAid School :From Abandoned Buildings to a School for the Future Karomadji, Nigeria
Educational Development Program
The story of ChabadAid’s educational program in Karomadji began with the identification and mapping of several severely deteriorated educational buildings.
At the time, the structures were in extremely poor condition and could not properly serve the needs of local children. Through ChabadAid’s educational development work, these buildings were progressively selected, assessed, and restored one after another.
The first phase of the project focused on the complete rehabilitation of four school buildings, creating safe and functional learning spaces for nearly 850 students.
This initial restoration was financed in part by Les Rois du Monde, with a total project cost of approximately €89,000. The renovation work included the rehabilitation of classrooms, improvement of the learning environment, and the creation of conditions suitable for children to study with dignity and safety.
The visual documentation of this project includes powerful before-and-after photos, showing the dramatic transformation of the buildings from neglected structures into welcoming educational spaces.
Following this first phase, additional support from other organizations made it possible to continue expanding and developing the school.
Today, the school has grown into a major educational center serving more than 1,650 students, becoming a symbol of what long-term investment in education can achieve for vulnerable communities.
This project represents the beginning of a larger educational journey — one in which restored buildings became the foundation for opportunity, dignity, and hope for thousands of children.
