Nigeria – Orphanage Renovation and Long-Term Support Program

As part of its ongoing humanitarian commitment in Nigeria, Les Rois du Monde took responsibility for the rehabilitation and long-term support of an orphanage caring for 33 children.

The project began with the identification of a severely deteriorated building that no longer provided the level of comfort, safety, and dignity that children deserve. ChabadAid’s field teams assessed the site, developed a full renovation vision, and prepared a detailed 3D proposal to transform the structure into a welcoming and functional home.

Following this planning phase, renovation work began immediately.

Volunteers from Les Rois du Monde traveled personally to Nigeria to visit the orphanage, study the needs of the children in detail, and take part in the first stages of the renovation themselves. Their presence on the ground reflected a deep personal commitment, not only to improving the building, but also to building a lasting relationship with the children.

Once completed, the renovated orphanage will provide brand-new facilities designed to offer comfort, humanity, and security. The future building will include spacious bedrooms, proper sanitary facilities, improved living areas, and access to technology.

This technological access will allow the children to remain in regular contact with volunteers from Les Rois du Monde in France, who have committed to maintaining a continuous relationship with them, following their well-being, supporting their development, and helping ensure their safety and future integration into Nigerian society.

The project is scheduled for delivery in 2028, with a total committed budget of €175,000 already allocated for the renovation. In addition, an annual support grant will be provided to help cover the children’s ongoing needs and development.

This initiative is led locally by ChabadAid, under the direction of Rabbi Israel Uzan and Mrs. Haya Uzan, who oversee the project and ensure that the renovation and long-term support remain aligned with the children’s best interests.

Beyond the restoration of a building, this project represents the creation of a real home — a place where vulnerable children can grow with dignity, protection, emotional support, and hope for the future.
