Youth Across Continents: Four Wells, One Shared Humanity

Darri Krou – Korogoji – Rarou – Baridaji, Nigeria – 2024

In 2024, a Brazilian high school student named Aisen transformed compassion into action.

After learning about poverty and water scarcity in Nigeria—through his father, who had previously

worked in the country—Aisen mobilized his classmates and launched a school fundraising

campaign. United by a shared purpose, the students raised significant funds to support clean water

initiatives abroad.

Their effort resulted in the financing of four boreholes in the villages of Darri Krou, Korogoji, Rarou,

and Baridaji, bringing sustainable access to clean drinking water to rural communities in need.

Determined to see the impact firsthand, Aisen traveled to Nigeria to follow the projects and share

the experience with his school community back home. During the inauguration ceremonies, his

elderly grandfather—deeply moved by the initiative—also chose to make the journey, standing

alongside local families in a powerful demonstration of intergenerational solidarity.

Today, more than 10,000 people benefit from these four water projects.

Throughout the implementation, the atmosphere was marked by unity and joy. Students and local

youth played football together while construction was underway, building friendships that

transcended borders, culture, and language.

The total budget for the four wells amounted to approximately $50,000 USD.
