COVID-19 Food Support Campaign During Ramadan

COVID-19 Food Support Campaign During Ramadan Abuja, Nigeria – COVID-19 Period
During the COVID-19 pandemic, many vulnerable families in Nigeria suddenly lost access to their daily means of survival. Lockdowns, restrictions, and the interruption of informal work left countless people without the ability to provide basic food for their households. In response, ChabadAid launched a major food support campaign during the month of
Ramadan, a time of heightened solidarity, compassion, and attention to those in need. With the support of the Jewish community and generous donors, thousands of food packages were prepared and distributed to vulnerable Muslim families. In order to ensure that the assistance reached the right beneficiaries with dignity and efficiency, the food supplies were entrusted directly to Muslim institutions for distribution. A significant part of the operation was carried out in cooperation with the Grand Rector of the Abuja Mosque, who helped coordinate the distribution through trusted local networks.
Despite the health restrictions in place at the time, a private ceremony was organized inside the mosque under strict sanitary precautions. During this symbolic moment, the Imam welcomed the Chief Rabbi and the Ambassador, highlighting a powerful message of interfaith respect and shared responsibility.
This campaign demonstrated that even during a period of fear and isolation, communities of different faiths could come together to protect human dignity, support vulnerable families, and bring hope during one of the most difficult moments of the pandemic.
