From a Learning Shelter to a Real School: The Rubbuchi Education Project

Rubbuchi Village, Nigeria – Educational Development Program
The Rubbuchi Education Project marked one of ChabadAid’s very first educational initiatives in Nigeria. Made possible through the generosity of successful businessman and philanthropist Eyal Messika and EMI, this project began in a village where children were gathered in an educational setting that, as shown in the early photos, could hardly be described as a proper school.
Recognizing the urgent need for dignity, structure, and real learning conditions, ChabadAid launched a major rehabilitation and development program. The project included the restructuring of the premises, the creation of classroom spaces, the purchase of educational materials, and the provision of school supplies. Today, the school welcomes approximately 320 students, giving local children access to a more organized, equipped, and dignified learning environment.
The official inauguration took place in the presence of Mr. Eyal Messika, and was celebrated together with the local community and ChabadAid. The event concluded with a large food distribution for village families, turning the inauguration into both an educational milestone and a moment of solidarity. As part of the operation, more than 7,000 kilograms of food supplies were distributed to families in the surrounding area.
The total cost of the project amounted to approximately €83,000. This initiative laid the foundation for ChabadAid’s broader educational work in Nigeria, showing how the transformation of a neglected space can open the door to opportunity, dignity, and hope for hundreds of children.
